Father's Day Weekend

We had a fabulous Father's Day weekend. We were at home but had lots of visitors and lots of fun.

Saturday morning was spent running errands. One of the places we went was Michael's to drop off Grace's one year photo series to be framed. While I picked out mats, Mark and Grace found these fabulous wind up toys that Grace would imitate--she was a monkey clapping, a frog leaping, and a host of other fun creatures doing fun things. It was hilarious!


That afternoon, one of my college girlfriends, Julie, and her son, Ben, stopped by to see us on their trip from Kentucky to Michigan. We were a bit out of their way, so it was really sweet for them to make the detour to see us. We took the kids to the park and they had a great time swinging and walking the balance beam.

Just as Jewels and Ben were leaving, the Galls arrived. We had planned on going to Taste of Tippecanoe, a great local festival, but it was way too hot! So instead, we grabbed pizza at a local pizza place and then set up the pool in the back yard for the kids. The pool that the Galls brought was amazing! You hook it up to your hose and the sides fill up and become a sprinkler of sorts. We moved Grace's slide so it became a water slide and the kids couldn't get enough!

The kids were COVERED in grass when we finally tore them away from the pool, so into the tub they went.

Of course after the tub, neither of them would cooperate to get jammies on so it was diaper play time.

We had several other friends come over that night for a bonfire, including the Shermans and their latest addition--Camille. Both Noah and Grace were great with the little baby!

Sunday was a relaxing day. Mark's mom came for lunch and Grace and I made Mark homemade spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Nothing spectacular, but just what Mark wanted--a fun weekend with family and friends. Grace and I both hope he knows how lucky we feel to have him as her daddy!
