The Wheels on the Bus

Grace has several favorite songs that she often demands that we sing to her by saying one of the words in the song and making some motion. There is the Where is Thumbkin? which is asked for by Grace grunting "thumb" and holding up her to hands in fists. There is If you're happy and you know it... which is asked for by Grace squealing "happy" (which sounds like hoppy) and clapping her hands. Recently, Row, Row, Row Your Boat has joined the mix which is asked for by Grace saying "row" (which wounds like "woah") and doing a rowing motion with her arms. What's really fun is when Grace wants all of these songs but doesn't let us get out the first 10 words before asking for the next one--I think she's just testing us to see if we know what she's talking about :)

Now the three songs mentioned above are great, BUT the granddaddy of ALL songs is The Wheels on the Bus. We cannot drive around town without seeing a bus, and we cannot see a bus without singing this song. Much to Grace's delight, a few Saturdays ago we put Sesame Street on for her and it was the episode called "Lulu Sings". In this episode, the characters are having a sing-a-long and Lulu won't sing any songs but her favorite song--you guessed it--The Wheels on the Bus! Well, now this episode is Grace's favorite (thank goodness for on-demand TV!). She does all the movements to the song as Lulu sings. She got so excited the first time she watched it that I rewound it and got her on tape.

Quite the little performer, huh?

Grace loves her music. And Grandma loves singing her songs with her.
