When we returned from Florida, she had her 18 month check-up. She weighed in at 24.5 lbs. and measured 31.5 inches. This puts her in the 50th percentile for both measurements. Her head circumference is in the 75th percentile :)
Grace's cognitive development in the last few months is astounding. She can correctly identify animals, is working on learning her letters, and can sort shapes/colors. She continues to love her books and her vocabulary is growing in leaps and bounds. She has become very independent and loves to tell us "No, no, no." (We fear that the terrible twos are upon us a bit early!)
Grace started in a new classroom at school today. Her friend, Molly, also moved up to the next class with her and when Grace was a bit shy this morning, Molly jumped up from the table, gave Grace a hug, and led her over to sit with her. It was adorable! We are excited about the new things Grace will get to do in this classroom but are very sad to leave her 1A teachers--Miss Margaret and Miss Christine. They both are incredibly warmhearted, loving women who taught Grace so much. It's so hard to leave Grace at school each day but knowing how much they genuinely cared about her made it a bit easier. We are very hopeful that we will like Grace's new teachers just as much!
A new classroom isn't the only new learning experience for Grace. She and I started Kindermusik last week. We are in a class with Jenn and Porter Linvill and Erina MacGeorge and her son, Carson Burleson. The classes are an hour long and are so much fun! The theme for this session is the sea and Grace has seashell castanets to play during some of the songs. I love this time we get to spend together!
