Good night! Good morning!

Grace has been an awesome sleeper for about the past two months. She starts rubbing her eyes by about 7 :00. I feed her, we put her in her pajamas, say our prayers, have a good night kiss and then we lay her down with her sleep sheep on (her sleep sheep is a noise maker that attaches to her crib--she prefers to fall asleep to the sound of rain). Within minutes this is how she is...

And then around 7 or 8 the next morning we start to hear chatter. We walk in, open the curtains and when we get to the crib, this is what we find...

We feel so lucky to have such a good little sleeper!

Bowling Banquet

Mark had his bowling banquet on Monday (B List finished in 5th place!). I had class and grandma and grandpa were out of town so Grace went as Daddy's date.

Funny story from the banquet: A lady asked Mark how old Grace was. When he responded 5 months, she said,"My granddaughter is 7 months and we've been calling her a giant baby. But now I have to call my daughter and tell her I found a bigger baby who is even younger!" The best part is we're getting that reaction more and more--as our doctor says: "She's thriving!"

Picnic

Grace went to her first picnic on Sunday. It was our annual Communication Graduate Student Association Picnic. She had a great time!

Grace and Daddy Day

This past Friday I had to travel to Detroit for one of the grant projects I'm working on. That left Grace and Daddy home alone to have a day of FUN!! As you can see from the video and pictures below, fun is just what they had--from sitting in the grass (Grace was not a fan!) to playing footsie--it was all around a great day for the two of them. And when I got home there was a big surprise--Grace had cut her first tooth! Can you believe it?!? I'm gone for 30 hours and she gets a tooth! But wait--there's more--yesterday her second tooth popped through. That's right 2 teeth in 4 days, she's growing up way too fast!

Tummy time!

A new way to bathe

Last week we decide that it was time for Grace to use her bath tub in the sitting position rather than on the recline side (it's such a versatile baby tub!). She loved sitting up in the water. My only fear is she kept reaching for the sink's spray gun--I know I'm going to get sprayed one of these days!

First "Meal"

Last Friday Grace tried rice cereal for the first time. She has been eating more and more during the day so we decided to try cereal to see how she would take it. We're eating once a day and it's more just getting her used to eating from a spoon and trying to swallow things. She's not really a fan yet. Maybe she'll like it more when we move on to something a little more tasty!

Grace and Noah

This past Saturday Grace and I spent some time with Jill and Noah Gall. Noah is five months older than Grace and they have hung out before but this is the most interactive they have been.

"Hey Grace! Come here."

"Hi Noah. Sure, I'll hold your hand."

"I'll also take your bottle if you're done with it."

"Oh, is this a chaperoned date?"

Grandmas

Grace is so lucky to have two amazing grandmas! You can tell how much she loves all of the time she gets to spend with them. She absolutely lights up whenever she sees either of them.

Grandma Applebee came and stayed with us all last week while Mark was in Cincinnati for work. Grace and Grandma Applebee had so much fun playing while I tried to catch up on school work.

This past weekend Mark and I went to his Company Appreciation Day at Six Flags in Cinci. Grandma and Grandpa Williams had a fun day with Grace. The were going to go to the zoo but the weather didn't cooperate so they did the next best thing---shopped! Mark and I had a great "date day" riding roller coasters, going to IKEA and my favorite grocery store, Jungle Jim's.

Happy 5 months Grace!

End of an era

Today Grace moved from size 2 to size 3 diapers. The reason this is such a big deal is that we also had to switch from Pampers Sensitive to Cruisers since the Sensitive stop at size 2. The Sensitive had a fabulous yellow line that turned blue when Grace had a wet diaper. It will be quite an adjustment not having that little indicator!

Happy Easter!

For Easter weekend we headed to Mark's parents on Saturday. GG and G2Pa Hone were there and Amy and Greg joined us. It was a fun weekend spent with family.

Is it nap time yet?

One of my favorite parts of the weekend was dying eggs. It's been so long since I've done that. Grace seemed to enjoy the pretty colors and trying to kick the mugs over.

After dying eggs Grace was pretty tired. The thumb usually goes in when she's ready to go to bed--this time it was before her bath was even done!

Grace took several naps on Monday--I think she was just worn out from such a fun weekend!
