A perfect little patient!

Yesterday, Grace had outpatient surgery to get tubes put in her ears. She was quite the trooper!

We arrived at the surgical center at 7 a.m. They had made us the first appointment of the day since Grace couldn't eat or drink before the surgery. We were able to sit with her in pre-op and then at 7:30 they took her back. Before we had the opportunity to get too nervous in the waiting room, the doctor was out at 7:45 and told us the surgery had gone well. There was a lot of fluid behind both ears and they were starting to get infected again. Needless to say, that made us very thankful that she had the surgery! About 10 minutes later, she was awake and we were able to go back and see her. She was sitting nicely in a nurse's arms--until she saw us and then she started sobbing. I'd hold her, she'd calm down, then she'd start screaming and reach for Mark. He would take her, she would calm down, then 2 minutes later she'd start screaming and reach for me. We repeated this sequence until she was released to go home. The nurses got a big kick out of Grace when we left--she stopped crying just long enough to wave and say "Bye bye" to them. Apparently, they don't get many waves from their little patients. We were home before 9 and besides the two long naps she took, you would never know she had surgery! In fact, she was a little more grouchy today :-)

Despite a little grouchiness, today was a fun day! We had gorgeous weather so Grace and I were able to play outside (I'm on Spring Break this week) and take a walk with Daisy. After dinner tonight, we took a little drive and got ice cream--our perfect little patient needed a treat!

Here are some pictures from our day:
