Ice cream, buses, and fireworks--Oh what a 4th of July!

The Fourth of July fell at the end of my push to get the dissertation done. I didn't know if I would be able to get out from behind my computer but by dinner time I had sent a draft off and it was time for family time. We headed downtown and had dinner on the patio at Enzio's. Grace loves it because with kid's meals you get a hot fudge sundae.

Then it was off to City Park for the fireworks...

Via a city bus!
Grace was so incredibly excited to be on the bus. For the last year and a half she has pointed out every bus we pass and being on one was just way too exciting for her!

We got to the park and found a place to lay our blanket. Of course we had to buy some of the neon glow sticks.

Grace LOVED the fireworks. It was the first time that she saw them since we've never tried to push it by keeping her up that late. I started "oooing and ahhing" over the fireworks and she promptly told me, "Shhhhhh! Be quiet, mommy! I'm watching the fireworks!"
