Easter Day

Happy Easter!!!

We had a great Easter. My mom and Mike came for the weekend and despite the fact that I was under the weather, we still had a fun time. Mark's parents came for Easter dinner and Grace's first Easter egg hunt. She did AMAZING!

Prancing out to find her Easter basket...

and then getting distracted by one of her book bins and totally missing the basket behind her.

A little help from dad.

What is that?!?!

Another new Easter tradition--Easter basket cake. Very easy to make, so cute!

And a little girl who is so good at finding the eggs!

The eggs were filled with coins or graham cracker goldfish. Grace loved opening them with her dad and either eating the goldfish or putting the coins in her piggy bank!

For all my sorority sisters--a little "Paradise by the Dashboard Light"

Opening up an Easter basket from our friend LaShara--so sweet of her to think of Grace on Easter!

Easter Eggs

We had SOOOOO much fun preparing our Easter eggs this year! My friend Dede had posted a link on facebook to a blog that had a great idea for making the most beautiful Easter eggs! You use silk ties to wrap the eggs and when you boil them with vinegar the dye/pattern from the tie transfers to the egg. I had went to Goodwill and found ties with designs that I thought would look good on eggs. This is definitely a new Easter tradition. I think we'll look for fun ties year round! Here are pictures of the process and you can read the instructions at: http://www.ourbestbites.com/2008/03/silk-dyed-eggs.html

Wrapped in the pillow case squares after the ties

Ta-da!!!

The final product with the ties they came from!

So pretty in a crystal bowl!

The next pics are from our traditional egg dying. Grace liked using the crayons on the eggs and REALLY liked seeing the colors as we pulled the eggs out (see video--you might want to turn the volume down a little--she may be small but she can be LOUD!)

Mommy/Daughter Date Night

Some of my favorite memories growing up are Friday nights in the summer with my mom. My dad and brother would typically go to the races and my mom and I would go shopping--sometimes fun shopping, sometimes just grocery shopping, and do dinner out. Our favorite was getting take out from Long John Silver's and renting a movie to watch.

This past Friday, Mark went to Indy for the NCAA Final Four festivities so I decided it was a perfect night to introduce Grace to Mommy/Daughter date nights. I picked her up from school and we went to Michael's. Then we did a trip through the car wash which Grace LOVES! I decided that Long John Silver's is a little to greasy for Grace (let's be honest--it's too greasy for all of us!) so instead we went to McAlister's Deli. We had so much fun. We sat on the same side of the booth. Grace had a grilled cheese, applesauce, and chocolate milk (for the first time!). I realized while we were that what a sponge she has become. I got nacho chips and cheese sauce. I was dipping my chips and eating them when I noticed that Grace started dipping her grilled cheese in her applesauce before eating it. Wow--we have to be careful what we do in front of her! After dinner we did a Target trip. It was the perfect first date night :-)

Play Time

These are some videos that I forgot to post with my entries last week. It's play time at home. In the second one you also get to see Grace's meltdowns :)

Zoo

Last Thursday, Grace got to go to the Indianapolis Zoo with her Grandma Williams and cousin (something like third cousin once removed) Deanna Murphy and her son Connor. They had a great time. Here are a few pictures of Grace at her favorite exhibit--the polar bear.

The polar bear went in his cave. Grace is asking "Where did he go?"

And shows her excitement when he returns!

A minute of Grace moods

Grace is getting pretty good at the meltdown. These pictures are proof of that--all were taken within a minute.

"Grace, say 'cheese'"

Starting to get impatient to leave for church

Bring on the crocodile tears

"Please can we go?!?!"
