Daddy's Birthday!
Sunday was Mark's birthday. We celebrated by joining his family at Trader's Point Creamery in Indianapolis for Octoberfest. It was a great day to be outside, enjoy the colors, and have some German fare.

We finished the day with a nice dinner at home complete with birthday cake. I can't wait until Grace can join me in the singing of Happy Birthday (and I'm sure Mark can't either!).
Napa
Mommy and Daddy's Perspective
Two weekends ago we headed to Napa with Mark's parents, Amy, and Greg. We flew into San Francisco, ate a great lunch at the marina in Sausalito, visited Muir Woods, and then headed to Napa for two days of wine tasting, visiting family friends, and eating lots of yummy food! The first night we were there (my big 30th!) we ate at Bottega which is Chef Michael Chiarello's (of Food Network and Top Chef Masters' fame!) new restaurant. It was a delicious dinner and we even got to meet the chef. As the picture shows, Amy and I were a bit star struck :)

The next day it was off to the wineries: Benessere, Castello di Amorosa, Dutch Henry, and Jericho Canyon (a great winery that didn't even have a sign out front). We were joined by the Ponsfords (who live in Calistoga and were great hosts!) and the Coles. It was really fun getting to know some old family friends of the Williams.

We started Monday with a trip to the champagne caves at Schramsberg followed by visits to Terra Valentine, Merryvale (to see the cask room), and Larksmead. I cannot say enough about what a great time we had. It is such a beautiful part of the country and it truly was a relaxing trip. We missed our little girl terribly but we knew she was in good hands so we were able to relax and have fun. A huge thank you to Mom and Dad Williams for taking us on such a spectacular trip!

Grace's Perspective
So I wake up one morning and mommy and daddy weren't here but that wass okay because Grandma and Grandpa Applebee still were. We played so much but I wasn't feeling 100% the whole time so I also got a lot of cuddle time with them. Every now and then they held the phone up to my ear and I heard mommy and daddy. I guess they were checking up to make sure I was behaving myself! I loved getting to spend time with G & G Applebee. Thanks for hanging out with me and taking such good care of me!

Steps!
It happened today! Grace took 3 steps! She left my arms and took 3 steps to my mom. I am so happy that both Mark and I were there to witness it! It was so funny we all just looked at each other as if we couldn't believe what we had just seen. We tried to get it on video but couldn't recreate it--all in due time! Our little girl isn't so little anymore!
Surprise Kidnapping/Birthday
I have a big birthday coming up this Saturday (i.e., I'm moving into a new decade!). So I had a feeling something was going on and Mark had prepared be for "something" last Saturday but I had no idea what I was in store for. My first surprise was at about 2:30 when the doorball rang and there was my BFF, Alexia! It was so great to see her. And then about half an hour later the doorbell rang again and it was a kidnapper! Okay, so it was really just Mark's mom but she kidnapped Grace for the night. The surprises continued when we went downtown and there was a gathering of our friends. A party bus showed up and much to my shock Mark had organized a moving birthday party. We went to six different apartments/houses in 3 hours. Each of my friends had put together a themed party at their place--we had a fiesta, a college-theme, a luau, a southern gathering, a house party, and a birthday cake stop. It was so much fun! Mark and my friends REALLY outdid themselves! Here are a few shots from the evening...

While we were celebrating the end of my twenties in Lafayette, Grace was having a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Williams. They did lots of playing, including on the new rocking horse that Grandma and Grandpa got for her!

What a fun weekend! Thanks Mark! Thanks friends! And thanks to the kidnapper :)

Tons of fun Tuesday
Tuesday Grace's Grandma came to visit for the day. Grace had so much fun playing with her and Mark and I enjoyed getting to visit too!

This is Grace waving. She waves with her palm towards her face instead of towards the person she's waving to--it's hilarious. And today she surprised Mark when he picked her up by showing him how she can blow kisses--we'll have to get it on video camera!
After Grandma left Grace decided to help me fold laundry and then decided to chase Daddy and the camera.
