Sweet Potatoes!!!

Grace has been eating her cereal for a few weeks now and keeps getting better--granted, she thinks she has to suck her thumb after every bite but at least some food is getting down. So we decided on Monday that it was time to have some real food. Grace's food of choice--sweet potatoes! I baked and pureed them (putting the extra in an ice cube tray to freeze) and Grace went to town. It was so fun to see her reaction. I think she really likes them. Especially since yesterday when we gave them to her for dinner she would take a bite, suck thumb, pull thumb out and reach out for more sweet potatoes! Introducing her to new foods is going to be so much fun--apples are on the menu for tomorrow!

Mother's Day

I had a very nice first Mother's Day. It was a low key day spent just enjoying one another. Mark made a great breakfast for his parents and me of homemade waffles and bacon. I got two beautiful cards from both Mark and Grace (plus Daisy too!). They tried to do an art project for me on Saturday but as Mark puts it "It was a disaster." He bought a kit to capture Grace's hand print but rather than putting her hand in it flat she kept grabbing the gel. Then she tried eating it. He got her cleaned up and then then tried to get a footprint--that led to kicking and gel all over. We've decided that we'll have to get another kit and try to do it when she's sleeping. Anyhow, Sunday we just hung around the house. Grace was in a really good mood so it was nice having such a happy, playful baby to spend the day with. We did a long family walk in the evening and then after Grace was asleep Mark got us Chinese take out. I'm a very lucky Mother!

Night with Grandma

On Saturday night Mark and I went to the wedding of our friends Andy and Abigail. Mark's mom came up and hung out with Grace while Mark and I had our night out. Mark's dad joined her later in the evening after he was done working and they both stayed the night. We had a great Sunday morning together. Thanks for coming up!

Cutest Sleeper Ever!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

This past Saturday was Mark's Mom's Birthday. We headed to Indy for the weekend to help her celebrate and had a great time. Mark and I had errands to run Friday evening so Grace went to a dinner party with Grandma and Grandpa. We were able to grab dinner, run our errands, and then pick her up from the party just before her bedtime. We had a lazy Saturday morning and then took a long walk on the Monon Trail. Sara and I did some shopping while Grace napped with the guys and then we took her over to the Gall's so we could all go out for a nice birthday dinner. I didn't have my camera on me when we went in to the Gall's but it was the cutest thing ever. Noah and Grace were sitting facing each other and he kept bending over trying to kiss her. Don't worry, she didn't let him--at least not while all the parents were watching. A big thank you to Ryan, Jill, Noah, and Darby for watching Grace. We had a great time at dinner--Peterson's was delicious, we had lots of good conversation and laughter, and we were able to celebrate a very special lady :) A perfect weekend!

Mark's parents

My favorite birthday cake is German Chocolate. It wasn't my birthday...but it is their speciality so we had to order it. Don't worry--we had to get a to-go-box!

Oatmeal

Last Thursday we introduced Grace to her second "solid" food--oatmeal. She likes it a bit more than the rice cereal but it still ends up all over the place. But isn't the experience half the fun of eating anyway?

Post-cereal--stripped down for a bath!

Practicing the next night with Grandma

More practice on Monday

Pacifiers

For the longest time Grace HAD to have her pacifier ALL the time. And then one day, about a month ago, she wanted nothing to do with it. There were still a few pacifiers laying in her jungle gym and she has found a new use for them...
